Green Lane near Colinton Road – Proposed Pedestrian Crossing Facility

Closes 7 Oct 2022

Opened 16 Sep 2022

The Council is proposing to install a signalised pedestrian crossing on Green Lane near the junction with Colinton Road. To install the pedestrian crossing, two 'pay and display' parking bays, on the north side of Green Lane in front of Al Noor Primary School need to be removed. We also propose to install approximately 20 metres of pedestrian guardrail in front of the school.

The Metropolitan Police, London Fire Brigade, London Ambulance Services and Transport for London are being consulted on the proposals.

Why make changes?

Pedestrian surveys undertaken on Green Lane have demonstrated that on this particular part of the road, there is a high level of pedestrian activity.  Also, Al Noor Primary School is located on Green Lane and there are a large number of school children that use this road.

The main objective of the proposed scheme is to make this area safer for all vulnerable users. The proposed scheme will help pedestrians to cross the road safely, reduce the occurrence of collisions with pedestrians involved and improve road safety in the area.
