High Street, Wanstead - Road Safety Improvements

Closed 21 Jan 2022

Opened 17 Dec 2021

Overview

The Council is proposing to introduce road safety improvements on High Street, Wanstead. The Council is proposing to provide traffic calming in the form of a speed table on High Street, Wanstead as shown on the plan below. We are intending to install a speed hump on this road as well as the associated warning signs.

The Metropolitan Police, London Fire Brigade, London Ambulance Services and Transport for London are being consulted on the proposals.

Why make changes?

The main objective of the proposed scheme is to make this area safer for all road users. By doing so, this will help reduce vehicular speeds, improve driver awareness and improve road safety in the area.

Lowering traffic speeds also makes our streets less polluted, and better and safer places to walk and cycle.
